Each Wednesday, a group of people enters the Nevada-Utah Conference office. They are not employed by the conference, and their quiet demeanor suggests that they do not want to draw any attention to themselves. A couple of hours later, they quietly emerge, having completed their weekly mission.
Their mission: to intercede on behalf of God's people. The group: the conference prayer team. Just as consistently as the postal carrier delivers the mail, the team meets and prays for all of the churches within the conference, their leadership and the various ministries that are going on there. They pray for the leadership of the conference and the day-to-day management decisions. They pray for every schools' faculty, staff and administration, not only in the Nevada-Utah Conference, but throughout the world. They also pray for the nation and its leaders and those who serve in the military and their families. And they pray for requests for the sick and the dying; for those that are in bondage to Satan and his direct influence; those that are homeless, hungry, jobless, incarcerated and in bondage to a myriad of addictions.
This team has lifted up many prayer requests and are excited to share the Lord's faithfulness to His people. "This group is here because of their belief in the power of prayer, and there have been some miraculous stories of intervention," explained Pastor David Hall, Nevada-Utah Conference prayer ministry coordinator. "For example, the 62-year-old diabetic man who underwent surgery for an infection in his right leg only to have his diabetic condition cause uncontrollable bleeding that put stress on his heart and caused him to have a heart attack. With prayer, the Lord willed that he not only recovered from this surgery, but a second and third one that took his other leg. He is now preparing to return home after two months of hospitalization."
"There's also the young lady from Las Vegas who was misdirected and under demonic harassment," remembered one prayer team member. "She had a chance encounter with Pastor Hall, who just happened to be speaking at a youth rally in Las Vegas." God heard the prayers on her behalf, and He delivered her completely from her bondage and her faith is renewed.
Hall ended with another example of a grandmother who requested prayer for her granddaughter who was struggling with an addiction to prescription medication. "It wasn't long after we lifted this young lady's name in prayer that she was delivered from her addiction, but on top of it, she was reunited with her family and returned to Christ!"
The prayer team will continue to pray over the requests that they have received. To submit a prayer request, contact pastor David Hall at 775-322-6929, dhall@nevadautah.org or Nevada-Utah Conference Prayer Team, P.O. Box 10730, Reno, NV 89510.
