San Diego Meetings Conclude with Baptism of 93 People
Alberto Ingleton

At the close of international evangelist Alejandro Bullón's evangelistic campaign at the San Diego Concourse, 93 people were baptized.

The messages filled with hope touched the lives of far more people than these 93, including hundreds of church members in San Diego county. More than 2,000 people were present opening night, March 2; approximately 3,000 attended the final meeting March 8; and about 1,300 were present on the weeknights.

The messages also reached audiences overseas via the Internet. "It was reported that in the United States, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, many rejoiced as they received the Word of God," explained evangelist Yohalmo Saravia.

Bullón is well-known for his Christ-centered messages. He regularly attracts thousands of people to auditoriums and stadiums around the world. One reason his messages are so well received is his personal experience with men and women whose shattered lives have been transformed by the power of God. As he tells these people's stories, he calls his listeners to surrender their lives to Christ, who can transform their lives also and fill their hearts with hope.

"He is not just Christ-centered, he simply preaches Christ. He is a man who loves the Lord with all his heart and has dedicated himself to sharing the matchless love of his Master with all that he can," said Basil Bell, pastor of the San Marcos church.

All the Hispanic churches in San Diego County were involved in this event. Planning began in 2006 by Mario Perez, assistant to the conference president for administration, and Saravia. The planning committee included the Hispanic pastors in the county, as well as lay members. Harold Guizar, senior pastor of the Santa Ana Broadway church, was elected director; Alberto Ingleton, conference director of Hispanic ministries, and Saravia served as counselors. Raul Maldonado, pastor of the San Ysidro Spanish church and one of the committee members, said he appreciated the opportunity the pastors had to work together as a team.

"We all participated in two years of careful planning, prayer and seeing our ministry come to fruition," Maldonado said.

Edwin Mendoza gave an example of this "fruition": "This extraordinary experience will be recorded in the history of the San Diego Spanish church. The Broadway church had more than 10 small groups, from which 30 souls were baptized as a product of missionary work."

After a consecration message by conference president Gerald Penick, the meetings concluded the afternoon of Sabbath, March 8, with a baptism. Church members and pastors continue studying the Bible with all who have accepted Christ.
