Hanford Area Hospitals Improve Quality with Color-Coded Wristbands

Adding another layer of patient safety, nurses at Central Valley General Hospital, Hanford Community Medical Center and Selma Community Hospital now attach color-coded plastic bands to the wrists of those with special needs. Patient with allergies are identified with a red wristband, those at risk of falling with yellow and those who do not want to be resuscitated with purple. By adding wristbands, the hospitals are following recommendations from the California Hospital Association, which advises all California hospitals to adopt the same three colors for these conditions.
