Christian Men’s Retreat Continues Ministering to Men of All Ages
Steve Nicola

Christian Men’s Retreat has been one of the best-kept secrets in the Northern California Conference for the past 19 years. It is an event that is held each May at Leoni Meadows, the NCC’s retreat center. For almost two decades, men, some as young as 18 and others older than 80, have come from all over California and other western states to spend a weekend being blessed by powerful presentations, great fellowship and good food.

“CMR is an event that I look forward to each year,” said Robert Carli, from Paradise, Calif. “It is a time to mingle with other Christian men in an environment that is relaxed and free from distractions. I have been blessed by the variety of keynote speakers and topics that provide fuel for the small group discussions. The motorcycle rides to CMR are a definite highlight, also.”

Over the course of its history, CMR has had a large variety of top-quality speakers, who have given messages on a wide array of topics. Though every year new and exciting topics are presented, a common theme that comes out of the retreat each year is that more and more men want to be stronger and more effective in their walk with Christ. Many men are finding that the key to achieving this goal is spending quality time with other men who are committed, yet still searching, like themselves. Each year, the presenters speak to this need and share a wealth of knowledge and experience in getting to know Jesus as one’s own personal Friend and Savior.

Herb Montgomery of Renewed Heart Ministries, will be the guest speaker for this year’s men’s retreat. Jim Redfield, pastor of the Penn Valley church, recently hosted Montgomery at his church and believes that this year’s CMR is an event not to be missed. “Herb has a solid message with a unique perspective that will open new vistas of understanding. He’s fun, real and genuine,” said Redfield. “I’m planning on attending; I wouldn’t miss it for anything.”

This year’s retreat is scheduled for May 2 to 4 at Leoni Meadows Retreat Center. For more information, call Steve Nicola at 707-431-2674 or ask for applications at a local church.
