Palo Cedro Church Hosts an Afternoon of Teen and Adult Testimonies
Sherilyn Greenlaw

"God’s Interventions and Special Connections" was the theme of a dynamic testimony event held at the Palo Cedro church in Palo Cedro, Calif., on Sabbath afternoon, Feb. 2. This two-hour event featured teens and adults who each shared an experience of God rescuing, healing and connecting with them in a personal way that has profoundly impacted their relationship with God.

Warren and Penny Elkins wowed listeners with their story of God’s healing in their relationship through intercessory prayers. Diane Butler said how God had used horses to bring her to a profound relationship with Him. Dr. David Abbey told — and showed — how God is healing his spine. Nikki Straub relayed how God spoke through a young woman at another church to convey His awesome love and acceptance. Judy Adams, a teacher at Redding Adventist Academy, relayed how she “heard a voice” command her to “Look down!” as she hiked in South America. Obeying prevented her from stepping on the most poisonous kind of snake there, which was coiled and ready to strike. Many other speakers gave their testimonies as well, including Dr. Ron Greenlaw, Kaleb Williams, Kathy Estes, Claire Brayshaw and Dr. Warren Ashworth.

Alene Eddy, a non-Adventist Christian, said afterward, “I was blessed on so many levels! This was my first time experiencing both the love of God and the power of God in one building!”

The Palo Cedro prayer ministries team wanted to hold this event because they understood how testimonies are powerful, faith-energizing spiritual tools. God’s people are victorious “by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11).

At the Palo Cedro church, prayers and their resulting testimonies are considered vitally important. Ron Mellor, senior pastor, and Eric Maine currently co-lead a weekly study group on the topic of prayer. They are also planning to host a second testimony event on Nov. 1. The Redding church will also be hosting this event on May 3. For more information, visit www.in2familyblessings.com, or call Sherilyn Greenlaw at 530-949-5080.
