Lobbying for Liberty
Alan J. Reinach, Esq.

Liberty Weekend 2008 kicks off June 12 with Capitol Hill Day in Washington, D.C. Church members are invited to the nation’s capitol to participate in bringing the Church's concerns to elected representatives in Congress.

The day begins with an orientation in the morning, planned by James Standish, the Church’s represtentative to the national government. After lunch, a busy afternoon of lobbying will include four or more visits to congressional offices. The day wraps with the annual Liberty banquet. The special guest speaker for this year has not been released, but two of the 2008 presidential candidates — John McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton — were speakers at previous banquets.

Liberty Weekend events including a tour of the White House, visits to the Smithsonian and the National Zoo, and a special Sabbath service at the Tacoma Park church. Clifford Goldstein, editor of the adult Sabbath School Quarterly, will teach the Sabbath school lesson, and Ed Reid will preach.

There is a registration fee, and participants must first become members of the North American Religious Liberty Association. More information is available at www.religiousliberty.info, or by calling 805-413-7396.
