Don Schneider, president of the North American Division, recently spent several hours visiting with retired denominational employees in Southern California.
He appeared before a large group of retirees in the Redlands church on Thursday, Dec. 13, after attending board meetings of the Loma Linda University Health Sciences Center. Before the meeting with retirees, Schneider spoke at the morning devotional for the nearby Quiet Hour staff.
After a short discourse, Schneider fielded many questions from the retirees, ranging from denominational television communications to problems with the denomination's health benefits program.
Larry Becker, pastor of the Redlands church, hosted the program. The master of ceremonies for the two-hour session was Pastor Lorie Purdey, director of retirees' activities for the Southeastern California Conference.
After the program, the Redlands church hosted a reception where retirees were able to meet the visiting church leader.
