Central California Re-elects Officers
Gerry Chudleigh

Delegates to the 31st tri-annual session of the Central California Conference, November 11, re-elected their four senior officers: Jerry Page, president; Ramiro Cano, executive secretary; Nelson Tabingo, treasurer; and Steve Horton, vice president for ministries.

Delegates also elected Kenny Fraser, associate executive secretary; Fred Anderson, African-American ministries; Daniel S. Botabara, Asian/Pacific ministries; and Daniel Escamilla, Hispanic ministries. Other ministry directors will be appointed by the executive committee at their next meeting.

Two new churches were voted into the CCC fellowship: Fresno Sequoia Hispanic and Porterville Hispanic.

In the president's report, Page said "The miraculous growth of the camp meeting evangelism offering continues to humble and astound us." In 2003 the offering totaled $837 thousand. But the next three annual offerings (combined) totaled more than $4.2 million, and the 2007 offering totaled $3.3 million.

"As the offerings have increased, new ministries have been established," said Page. "Since the last constituency meeting, the camp meeting offerings have resulted in 222 full-scale public evangelistic meetings, 52 Bible workers, 105 New Work projects, 30 church plants, two full-time youth evangelism teams and 13 new evangelistic initiatives.

Page also highlighted the student literature evangelism program, which trains youth for leadership, Bible work and outreach. According to Page, during the last three years, 242 students visited 840,000 homes, distributed 317,000 Bible study interest cards, placed 153,000 books in people's homes and personally visited 1,648 people for Bible studies. The students distributed $1.2 million worth of literature and earned $790,000, most of which went for Christian education.

In his executive secretary's report, Cano told delegates that 5,753 members were added to the CCC in the last three years through baptism, profession of faith and transfers. Membership at the end of 2006 stood at 32,701, up from 31,054 in 2003.

Conference treasurer Tabingo reported that tithe has increased steadily for over 10 years, reaching over $25 million in 2006. Conference reserves stand at 112 percent of the amount recommended by the GC.

After lunch the delegates voted to merge the Central California Conference and the Central California Association into one corporation—as recommended by the North American Division and the Pacific Union. Grant Mitchell, general council for the CCC, assured delegates that this change will not affect the work of the church in any way, except to reduce liability exposure in the event of a lawsuit.

In a move designed to save money and staff time, the delegates voted to increase the time between future constituency meetings from every three years to every four years. As a result of this vote, the next CCC constituency meeting will be held in the fall of 2011.

Before dismissing the delegates, Page reported on the CCC capital campaign, including an announcement that less than a week before constituency session Mariposa County approved the Wawona redevelopment plan that delegates voted in 2000. The 2007 Delegates approved increasing the budget for phase one of the three phase project to $36 million.

Page's closing remarks echoed what he wrote in the delegate packet: "All of our challenges are opportunities for our gracious and all-powerful God to be glorified. Our vision is that as we move forward together in unity His promise will be realized."
