Hour of Power Rally Opens SCC 10 Days of Prayer
Betty Cooney

At the beginning of the recent SCC prayer rally, "10 Days of Power," planned to provide modeling for a June 28 to July 7 conference-wide prayer initiative, prayer ministries coordinator Janet Lui related her church’s prayer experience. “The Rolling Hills church met at 5 a.m. for an 'hour of power' throughout the 10 days,” she reported. “Not only were hearts bonded in fellowship, but the Holy Spirit manifested Himself with deep, healing work in the lives of those attending. Determined to continue what the Lord is doing with our group, we have chosen to continue to meet from 5 to 6 a.m. every Wednesday.”

“Since January, all over North America and parts of Central America, people have been having their own 10 days of prayer,” one leader said. “Why is God moving us? We believe God is behind this 10 days of prayer, and He must have a reason.”

Leaders and members reported an exhilarating aftermath of participating in the rally and 10 days of prayer. “The 10 Days of Power were a tremendous blessing to members of the Thousand Oaks church,” said Michael Brownfield, a prayer team member and associate pastor of the church. “From 30 to 40 members met throughout the 10 days. Many more prayed at work, on vacation, or on the road. Members described how blessed they were by this special period of seeking God. They believe it was providential that this happened just before our summer evangelism.

“A prayer booklet was prepared that included all the materials used. Valerie Rhaney, who took on this project, was waited on by a Staples clerk who was a previous acquaintance. This woman had experienced loss and serious illness. Valerie ministered to her and invited her to the evangelistic series. One member felt impressed to write members who had not been attending. An inactive member called back and engaged in a very hopeful conversation.”

“The 10 Days of Power at the Paramount Spanish church was an experience beyond our expectations,” noted Pastor Guillermo García. “As one participant put it, ‘Our unity, happiness, strength and spiritual bonding that we experienced were indeed the latter rain upon us.’ Even though for us that had been enough, on the last day, the Lord gave us a treat — the testimony of one of our sisters, a cancer victim, was miraculously healed. Praise God!"

“I believe the Holy Spirit was poured out during the 10 Days of Power in an amazing way," added Cenia García, the pastor's wife. “It was as if the Holy Spirit anointed my eyes with that salve of Revelation 3, and I sensed the need of a new heart as never before.”
