After participating in the ShareHIM evangelistic training with Robert Folkenberg at the Arizona Conference office in February, Dr. John Mosley, a member of the Chandler church, felt God calling him to hold an evangelistic series.
"I was inspired by the experiences and encouragement of Duane McKey and Ed Keyes at the conference office, also." said Mosley. "They taught me a great deal about resources for evangelism."
Working closely with Chandler's pastor, Steve Tatum, the plans became a reality. The hope was to reach neighbors, acquaintances, and those who attended, but perhaps had not been invited to join the church.
"We had no money for printing and mailing thousands of brochures," said Mosley. "We decided that word of mouth and personal contact would work the best. Under adult supervision, our enthusiastic youth visited nearby apartments with a family interest survey, and we got to know a lot of people that way."
Mosley then preached a five-week series, "Hope from the Holy Bible." Karen, his wife, led the song service most evenings.
By the end of the series, 10 people had chosen baptism, including Mosley's stepson, Nicholas. Seven others are in a baptismal class.
With his degree in public health, Mosley has had a great interest in people and their welfare. Education has been his field, teaching everything from elementary education through college courses. Now working on a stipend as the assistant to the pastor at the Chandler church, Mosley hopes to continue in evangelism, as well as studies at La Sierra University.
