In late February, Dr. Ivan L. Williams, Sr., who serves as the senior pastor of the Sacramento Capitol City church, became the first Adventist pastor to be honored with a Glory Award.
This award is given during the annual Sacramento Black Expo to five leaders of various religious communities in recognition of their spiritual commitment and dedication to serving the people of Sacramento.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Williams is also the alternate chaplain for the California State Assembly, a board member for the Greater Sacramento Urban League, and a board member for the Interfaith Service Bureau.
“The first step in Christ’s methodology for reaching people was to mingle with them as one desiring their good,” said Williams. “This is just the beginning in having true success.”
