Twelve L.A. Metro Region pastors participated in a commissioning service for Elizabeth Talbot, senior pastor of the Alhambra church, on Dec. 16, 2006. Each pastor recounted his or her experience in working with Talbot, affirming her call to the ministry.

“When ‘Lisi’ began her work at the Pasadena church, she led the young people, the choirs, the volleyball team and did secretarial work," said Mark Papendick, associate pastor, Vallejo Drive church. "God was preparing you, Lisi, making a foundation for where you are today.”

“I first met Elizabeth when she came to work in our region, and I saw her passion for the gospel," said Myriam Gonzalez-Salcedo, All Nations church senior pastor. "Elizabeth, we are affirming that God has called you to ministry.”

Juan Carlos Viera, former director of the E. G. White Estate, presented a homily on John 10. “A good pastor, a shepherd, lays down his life for the sheep. You will be living your whole life as a living sacrifice.” Juan Carlos and Alicia Viera embraced their daughter and son-in-law Patrick Talbot. “I share this moment with you as a retired minister, gladly passing the torch.”

Talbot’s response focused on Luke 24. “The core of my preaching is that forgiveness is preached through the blood of Christ. I will preach through the power of the Holy Spirit, with the hope given throughout Scripture that Jesus will return. After witnessing His ascension, the disciples had 'mega joy.' I have the mega joy of the gospel; it is like fire in my bones.”
