Benson Church's Vacation Bible School is a Community Project
Shirley Chipman

Benson church members have a heart for children and have put a lot of time and love into their vacation Bible schools. Each of the past 20 years they have enrolled 35 to 40 children, most of them from the community. This year's program, Avalanche Ranch, depended upon the efforts of many of the church members, who consider VBS just one of their many evangelistic outreach programs.

"We have seen these children grow up, and when they are 13 and older, we have them come back as helpers, which they are very anxious to do, "said Barbara Bohnert, a Benson church member. "A number of adults who are not members of our congregation help, also, which has been a great way for us to make friends with our neighbors."

Friday night's closing program is an attraction for the whole family—parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents. The adults seem to enjoy the program and lessons as much as the children.
