Crystal Cathedral Draws Camp Meeting Crowd

Camp meeting 2007, sponsored by the SECC black ministries department June 23-30, held seminars and evening meetings at the Mt. Rubidoux church with an average evening attendance of approximately 300 people. Guest speakers for the evening were Calvin Watkins, personal ministries director for the South Atlantic Conference, and John Trusty, family ministries director for the Allegheny East Conference.

Sabbath, June 30, attendance at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove topped 2,500, reported George King, SECC vice president for black ministries. Brian Neal, SECC director for commitment, hosted the annual Gospel Jubilee, "More Old School." During the concert, he gave plaques to several musicians, among them Walter Arties and Shelton Kilby, original members of the Breath of Life Quartet. Two reunions highlighted the concert: members of the original Walter Arties Chorale and members of the original Breath of Life Quartet.
