Training and Inspiring Pastors
By C. Lloyd Wyman
The purpose of the Ministerial Department is to provide evangelism training and inspire pastors and laymen to become more involved in personal and public evangelism. We do that through:
Annual Evangelism Council — “Westpoint of Evangelism,” held each December, focuses on training, reporting and inspiring full-time evangelists, pastors and lay-evangelists. Register online at www.puconline.org/article.php?id=64, or call 800-732-7587.
Ministerial Council — A four-day series of meetings designed and planned specifically for pastors and clergy will be Aug. 19-22, 2007, at the Ontario Convention Center. All 750 pastors in the union are encouraged to attend.
Annual Senior Interviews — Conference presidents, ministerial directors and other local conference personnel meet and interview senior theology students at Pacific Union College and La Sierra University for possible employment.
Helping Pastors Mentor — Senior pastors expressed the need for further training in supervising their associates. In April 2006, we held two mentor/supervisor training workshops. Dr. Walt Williams, an Andrews University Seminary professor who holds a doctorate in pastoral mentoring, led each workshop.
