Similar to the manner in which Western Adventist Foundation has been busy adapting its infrastructure to accommodate the tremendous growth experienced in the last five years of its existence, WAF's administration and staff are immersed in aclimating to its new surroundings and scorching heat of Tempe, Arizona.
Incorporated by the Pacific Union Conference in 1997, the Foundations Corporate Headquarters was housed in the Union offices at Westlake Village, California until its relocation to Arizona in July of last year.
The result of WAF's unprecedented growth is management of assets valued at approximately $300-$500 million dollars for conferences, schools, hospitals and ministries, including 40 Adventist charities throughout the United States. Of the amount under management, approximately $55 million is comprised of assets controlled by irrevocable agreements.
While initially a Union subsidy accounted for 80 percent of the Foundation's budget, currently that subsidy represents approximately 10 percent of the Foundation's budget.
The Foundation's 2006 Administration team consists of: James H. Brown, president; Larry J. Fuller, CFO and vice-president of finance; Karen J. La Madrid, general counsel and secretary; and Stephen H. Learned, treasurer. The Foundation's focus is to provide Adventist entities and individuals with whatever assistance possible to ensure that gifts to their favorite Adventist causes are achieved.
