Hernan Salvador Granados Ruiz was born in El Salvador, Central America, and came to Los Angeles at age 10.
When he sensed the Lords calling to the ministry, Granados set aside his passion for playing soccer and a full soccer scholarship to California State University at L.A. He also had one year left to complete a degree in physical therapy. Instead, he chose to attend Pacific Union College, where he graduated in 1999 with a B.A. in theology and also met his then future wife, Amanda Grace Umek.
Granados began his ministry as a youth pastor at Central Spanish church. Hernan and Amanda were married in April of 2000 and soon moved to Michigan where Hernan began studies at Andrews University. Caleb Josue Granados was born in January 2002, six months before Granados graduated with his Masters of Divinity degree.
The Granados family returned to Los Angeles, where Granados is serving as the youth pastor of the Central Spanish church. In March 2004, the Granados welcomed Lidia Ann Granados to the family.
What excites me the most about my ministry is spending one-on-one time with young people," Granados said. "When they are involved in games, I attend the games, because I want to be involved in their lives outside of church. The youth want me to care for them. When I am at their games and they see their friends, they introduce me, so I get acquainted with their friends, too."
Marvin L. Hugley Sr. was ordained at the 2006 Greater L.A. Convocation. A native of Ohio, he graduated from DeVry University in Atlanta, Ga., in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems. He then worked as a computer programmer for six years before receiving his call to ministry.
In 1998, Hugley began his ministerial studies at Oakwood College, then continued on to Andrews University Theological Seminary. During his two-and-a-half years there, Hugley served as the associate pastor of the Beacon of Joy and New Life churches in Chicago. He completed his Master of Divinity in 2001.
Hugley began his denominational employment in SCC, serving as the associate pastor of the University church. He has served since as pastor of the Smyrna church and associate pastor of the Valley Crossroads church, as well as interim pastor of the Watts company. Currently, he is the pastor of the Maranatha church. Hugley also serves as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
He and his wife, Melinda Ann, have three children: a daughter, Jalisa, 14; and two sons, Marvin Jr., 10, and Michael, 6.
I love to hear good preaching and to deliver good preaching," said Hugley. "I view the world as my congregation and consider myself pastor to the world in my desire to preach to people of every ethnic and religious background.
As much as Hugley loves preaching, he said he loves Jesus even more. I cant wait to see the Person I love preaching about, he added.
