Christian Record Service Worker Uses Music Appreciation to Reach the Blind
By Shirley Chipman
Once a week, Christian Record Services representative Kevin Congo volunteers as a teacher of music appreciation at the Arizona Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Phoenix. His enthusiastic class responds positively to the instruction and to the genuine warmth and friendship from their teacher. Kevin’s goal is to make each student a friend.
"The blind can do anything," says Congo. "It’s a phrase you hear quite often around here. I like it because it’s the truth. You would be amazed at all the talent and ability in this class."
In his third year as a Christian Record Services representative, he is also pleased to be a part of the National Camps for Blind Children and Adults.
"July 9 to 16 are our camp dates this year," Kevin said. "It’s a week with a lot of activities at Camp Yavapines in Prescott — archery, horseback rides, nature exploration, swimming. The only cost for this week is a $35 application fee. Space is limited — and it’s a popular event, so campers need to sign up early."
To find out more about camp and Christian Record Services, contact Congo at 480-664-0848.
