Creative effort and the pooled resources of a preschool, church and hospital have resulted in a vibrant redirection in the past year for the Discoveryland Preschool in La Crescenta.
The arrangement that Discoveryland has with Glendale Adventist Medical Centers Childrens Center Services is working well," says Director Somer Gonzalez. "We have two of the three preschool rooms at enrollment capacity and are ready to open the last room.
We welcome the opportunity to have a preschool program in the La Crescenta area," says Judy Crawford, GAMC Childrens Center Services Director. "The high quality, nationally accredited child care that GAMC offers provides the foundation of operation that is evident in each days activity at Discoveryland.
The La Crescenta churchs vision of providing outstanding Christian education and care for children preschool age to eighth grade is fulfilled on the campus with Discoveryland Preschool and Crescenta Valley Adventist School.
Ted Liston, former board chair, Mike Elias, former La Crescenta pastor, and David Igler, GAMC vice president, were instrumental in facilitating the agreement to bring the La Crescenta church and GAMC Childrens Services Center together.
We had a wonderful preschool to begin with, and now it is even better because people representing the three entities, the preschool, church and GAMC, are giving time, energy and resources to a great cause, said Liston, reflecting on the preschool.
Merrilee St. John, board chair, affirmed, We couldnt be more thrilled with how this agreement is working out. Things just keep getting better and better. We are happy to be partnered with GAMC in this endeavor.
