Yavapines Volunteers Appreciated
By Shirley Chipman
Camp Yavapines would not run without a legion of dedicated volunteers who maintain the grounds and buildings, and assist with miscellaneous projects.
"We have a hard-working crew that keeps the camp running," said Gary Lewis, camp director. "We can’t say enough about our volunteer workers who have made so many improvements year after year."
One big project this past year was the restoration of the women’s bathrooms. Work on the men’s bathrooms will continue, too, with a plan to have them completed before summer. This spring, volunteers will rebuild covered wagons.
Along with the many cabins that have been painted recently, there are still some that have never seen a paint brush. That project is on the list — as well as new carpet in the chapel and repainting the gym floor.
"Individuals or groups are invited to come up anytime. Just let us know," continued Lewis. "April will be our first big work bee of the season, and we hope to have a good group then."
Contact Lewis at Camp Yavapines, 928-445-2762, or the Arizona Conference Office, 480-991-6777, for more information.
