The 28th constituency session of the Pacific Union, held Aug. 27-28 in Ontario, Calif., proceeded smoothly. Of the 405 regular delegates representing the seven local conferences, 344 attended, as did 58 of the 62 delegates-at-large.
Themed Tell the World to reflect the General Conferences quinquennial vision of the same name, session attendees focused on how the Pacific Union members and entities can best tell the world, near and far, about Jesus soon return. They listened to reports and powerful testimonies from Souls West Evangelism Training School, Holbrook Indian School and others.
Between inspirational messages and trips through the exhibit hall, delegates had work to do. They reelected all four officers: Thomas Mostert, president; Ricardo Graham, executive secretary; Theodore Benson, treasurer; and Arnold Trujillo, vice president. In addition, three ethnic minority coordinators were reelected: George Atiga, Asian/Pacific; Bobby Mitchell, Regional; Jorge Soria, Hispanic.
In addition, delegates voted to merge the Pacific Union Conference (which coordinates the ministry of the church) and the Pacific Union Association (which has managed the property of the church), a move that will help protect the church assets against duplicate lawsuits.
After lunch, the session ended quietly with the hushed voices of scores of delegates and guests ascending to heaven, thanking God for His blessings and pleading for His continued guidance during the next quinquennium.
After his reelection, Thomas Mostert commented: Under the blessings of God and with the wise counsel of dedicated lay and church leaders, we intend to keep the Pacific Union on a course of solid commitment to the end-time message, while staying on the cutting edge of how the church does it's work.
