An Adventist Single Adults Conference drew members from a wide area of Southern California to a full days program held at San Fernando Valley Academy.
The day began early with a 7:30 5k fun run/walk. Following a general session with speaker Mike Sulen, co-coordinator of Adventist Single Adult Ministries for the Southern California Conference (ASAM), participants attended a variety of workshops. Volunteer professionals gave tips to men and women on simple auto maintenance, money management and investing, avoiding depression and other topics.
The Prayer Path, a one-hour interactive experience, led participants through 11 stations designed to help participants consider different aspects of spirituality and prayer life.
In the small-group classes, singles expressed appreciation for the variety of learning opportunities at the conference. I want to learn more, and these classes are very helpful, said one single adult.
Debra Sulen, ASAM co-coordinator for SCC, reported that the frequent Saturday evening get-togethers for Adventist single adults are called Sam's Cafe.
