Adventist Union School Students Reach Across the World to Help
By Ken Phillips, principal
Among the 3,257 students in Southern California Conference academies and elementary schools, students at Adventist Union School (AUS) in Bellflower donated more than $464 from their allowances and snack money to help the tsunami survivors. This money was given to ADRA to help reach its $500,000 goal for the North American Division.
They called their project, "Helping Hands across the ocean." Second and third grade teacher Tricia Klebba helped organize the drive to put up a helping hand for each dollar given. Each dollar donated was represented by a helping hand illustration placed on the cafeteria wall. In addition to the AUS donation to ADRA, SCC students donated a total of $3,475.38 to the SCC Tsunami Relief Fund for disbursing to the affected areas in South Asia.
