Adventist education is much more than reading, writing and arithmetic. The real purpose is to teach children a path that will lead them to eternal life with Jesus Christ.
Schools partner with families and churches to develop Christian men and women equipped with faith, wisdom, knowledge, integrity and the joy of service.
With a bold vision of providing funds for tuition assistance for families in need, the first conference-wide educational endowment was voted in 2000 as part of a three-pronged phased capital campaign. The initial $1.5 million is only a beginning. (The ultimate goal is $10 million.) Currently, $1,212,689 has been donated.
The lead gift for the endowment was a donated piece of land. The sale of the property resulted in a gift of $950,000.
I am thrilled that people are remembering education as they think about their long-giving plans. Our children are the future of this church and Adventist education must be affordable to every student in our conference, says Vern Biloff, education superintendent.
Interest income is distributed to the schools for worthy student assistance and is for K-12th graders. The first monies will be distributed for the Fall 2005 semester. For more information, including qualifying criteria, contact Jackie Bragaw at
