How has Adventist education benefited you?
La Sierra University answers ...
For me, I’m following in Christ’s footsteps, being in an environment that has a knowledge and love of Jesus.
Luis Soto
Freshman pre-physical therapy major
I enjoy having God a part of the classroom. Teachers at other schools have a very worldly point of view. Here, even in non-religious classes, there’s still an aspect of spirituality.
Sharan Gilman
Senior psychology major
I think it’s helped me deal with people better. It lets us students communicate better with each other, because we’re all in an understanding environment.
Kevin Straine
Senior communication major
I like the fact that I’m going to school with other people who have the same beliefs as I do. Also, there’s not as much peer pressure here. I just like the spiritual atmosphere.
Aneesah Moore
Senior marketing major
It forces you to think about how you integrate your knowledge with how the world should be. Without faith, knowledge becomes utilitarian. You don’t think about, “What can I do with this to make the world better?”
Dr. Mary Wilson
Associate professor of communication
It’s helped me gain a more well-rounded education. In public schools, they’re just focused on getting you into the classes and getting you out. Here, they take time to help make you a better person.
Leland Speed
Junior business administration major
Adventist education introduces you to other cultures, not just for knowledge, but to get involved. There are a lot of opportunities for mission work, to get out and help people.
Marisa Pratt
Junior business pre-med major
It makes a better social environment. Everyone gets along, and because the school is smaller, everyone gets a chance to get to know each other.
Nick Traboulay
Junior business major
Contact with young people has kept me more open. It’s given me fresh ways of looking at the beliefs we Adventists have held, and helped shape the growth of my own faith.
Cheryl Bauman
Student services coordinator, school of business and management
Having had Adventist education from elementary through grad school, I’ve been exposed to not only academic excellence, but also human excellence. The people I’ve known and the experiences I’ve had have made me a better person, not just a smarter one.
Ralph Martinez
Annual fund director
