Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross led a procession of Thunderbird Christian Elementary School students as they showed off their pets before an admiring audience on Pet Day. Students, dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, and even a proud-looking rooster paraded before the panel of judges and assembled guests.
Lori Lane, TCE principal, asked the members of her student body to think of ways they could honor America by having a special parade where they could bring their best friendstheir pets. Both pets and pet owners were allowed creative license for costume design and presentation.
Manross told students that she gladly contributes her time to such events because she believes in the importance of patriotism, citizenship and quality education.

The kindergarten class won first place with their many pets in various costumes. Austin Jacobson and Steven Allen received second place ribbons after proudly parading through the campus with Eyore the Rooster. Third prize went to Beth Bowen and Shantee the Dog.
