Arizona Prepares for "Revelation Speaks Peace"
By Michele Stotz and Shirley Chipman
From March 10 to April 8, 2006, almost 50 years after It Is Written’s first broadcast in 1956, Pastor Shawn Boonstra, speaker/director for It Is Written, will conduct a full-message satellite evangelistic campaign as the official NET series of 2006. This series, called "Revelation Speaks Peace—Unlocking the Signs," will be broadcast live via ACN from the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz.
It Is Written has designed "Revelation Speaks Peace" in a way that encourages its viewers and other members of the community to visit their local Adventist churches and, it is hoped, begin attending regularly. It is Boonstra’s desire that, through this series, people will learn more about the plan of salvation and Jesus’ love for them, as illustrated through the book of Revelation.
This series will also serve as a “graduate course” for those who attended It Is Written’s recent five-night satellite series called "The Appearing."
Also, more than 160 individuals, representing over 16 churches in the Phoenix area, received information and inspiration from Ernestine Finley of It Is Written and Karen Lewis, a Denver Bible worker, at the Camelback church Sept. 14-17. Of these potential Bible workers, 24 were “Souls West” youth attendees. Studies were conducted from Light Your World for God.
At the same time, Robert Costa, It Is Written’s Hispanic Ministries coordinator, conducted an evangelism training course at the Monte Vista Hispanic church. At least 162 delegates from across Phoenix attended the event. Costa reported that all of the Hispanic churches in Phoenix will participate in the NET series and that the majority of Hispanic churches in the rest of the conference will be involved in some way.
Dan and Gloria Bentzinger of It Is Written have moved to Phoenix so they may help coordinate the preparation efforts for "Revelation Speaks Peace—Unlocking the Signs." Ed Keyes, ministerial director for the conference, is leading out locally, and Dick Wilcox of It Is Written is helping to coordinate the event.
Light Your World for God was used as a study guide for the seven weeks of Bible lessons, taught by team leaders Luke and Susan Skelton.
”I think that a NET series is the perfect way to commemorate It Is Written’s 50th anniversary,” said Don Schneider, president of the Adventist Church in North America. “This ministry was founded upon the principles of evangelism, and there is no better way to celebrate this historic event than by leading others to Christ.”
