Its nice to be wanted! Kira Gabrielle Morris has spent most of her Sabbath mornings getting dedicated here, there and everywhere. Born in Baton Rouge, La., she enjoys the distinction of being a five-generation Adventist girl.
Olive Schuyler of Westminster, Calif., age 91, is proud to claim little Kira as her first great-great-granddaughter. It is the third successive five-generation, all-female lineup in the family tree; great-grandma Glenda admits that becoming a grandmother herself at the age of 35 helped keep the unusual streak alive.
Debuting as a five-weeks preemie April 9, 2005, the 5 lb. 3 oz. infant was consecrated to the Lord in June at Valley Crossroads Church in Pacoima, where her parents, Charles and Karli Morris, were married. The following Sabbath she was dedicated again at Upper Room Fellowship, where grandparents David and Lisa Smith are the pastoral leaders.
Mom Karli attended Newbury Park Adventist Academy, graduating in 1998 as co-valedictorian of her class. Currently she is working on a doctorate in mathematics at Louisiana State University. The couple are planning a third dedication for Kira at their local home congregationBaton Rouge Berean Churchin the summer.
