Volunteers ages 16 to 100 are invited to participate in an upcoming mission venture to Peru. Arizona Conference and Thunderbird Adventist Academy will partner with Maranatha Volunteers International for this second annual project, November 17-28, 2004.
The heart of the project will be to build a $10 Church in ÑaÑa, Peru. ÑaÑa is located about 25 miles from Lima and one half mile from Inca Union College, our Adventist university in Peru.
Maranatha Volunteers International has committed to constructing 100 churches and 14 schools in the Peru Union Mission. The effort is part of Maranathas recently announced 1,000 Churches in 1,000 Days initiative to be launched in 2004, an organized plan to construct 1,000 urgently needed houses of worship in countries where the Seventh-day Adventist membership is swiftly increasing.
Arizona youth will provide the core group for hosting Vacation Bible Schools, street evangelism, youth evangelistic meetings, and one-on-one witnessing. An evening jam session will lead to a nightly DVD evangelism event. We will also offer a medical outreach if sufficient medical personnel joins the team.
Our mission trip to the Dominican Republic last year was a huge success. Arizona volunteers and Thunderbird Adventist Academy students held a Vacation Bible School for more than 300 youth, and a DVD evangelistic series which resulted in 20 baptisms.
One of the churches reported that four months after our team left, the church had grown in membership from 40 to 120! Another church group had worked with a gentleman for many years and our youthful presenters were blessed to lead him to make a decision for Christ!
