In the face of national confusion about the Ten Commandments, the Church State Council is offering a poster emphasizing the new covenant experience of the Law of God written in the heart. This art first appeared as the cover of Liberty magazine in January of this year.
Across the country, Christians have been pushing to display the Ten Commandments in public places, pictured on the ancient stone tablets. While it is true that Gods Law is at the foundation of human law, it is ironic that Christians are now pushing for display of the Ten Commandments. For generations, many churches have countered the Adventist emphasis on keeping the whole Law of God by teaching that the Law was nailed to the cross, and that Christians are no longer under Law, but under grace. Adventist leaders warned that this teaching would undermine respect for both Gods Law and mans law, and reap the whirlwind of immorality.
Today, the pain of moral decline has become acute, and churches are rediscovering the Law of God. Adventists have a golden opportunity to take the moral and spiritual high ground by emphasizing Gods promise to write the Law upon our hearts, changing our lives from the inside out.
The Ten Commandments poster is suitable for display in homes, churches, businesses, offices, etc. A brochure to accompany the poster is in development and will be available later in the year.
