Arizona ASI Makes a Difference for Jesus
By Phil Draper
Arizona’s Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI) is an organization of dedicated men and women who live to witness for Jesus — especially in the business and professional community.
ASI's mission statement proclaims: ASI — the organization of Seventh-day Adventist lay persons involved in professions, industry, education, and/or services — exists to provide, challenge, nurture and experience in sharing Christ in the marketplace as well as support the global mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Dr. Leo Herber, a retired physician from the Phoenix area, is the president of the Arizona chapter of ASI. During a recent meeting at conference headquarters, Herber encouraged members to recruit others who would also enjoy the spiritual revival and Adventist fellowship the organization offers.
The "Members in Action" report featured Dr. Jim Joseph, a dentist from Cornville, Ariz. He has been doing relief work in Bangladesh and Africa. Also featured was Dr. Lela Lewis, who is currently involved distributing literature at the Arizona State Fair as well as church planting.
Arizona President Duane McKey told stories of results that are already coming in by those currently holding meetings with the DVD evangelism programs given to Arizona by the national ASI organization.
Men and women are equipped with specially prepared DVD messages covering the Bible truths that lead to decisions for Christ and baptism. Presently, Hispanic churches under the direction of Pastor Omar Grieve are hosting approximately 700 such cottage and small group meetings.
This year, 10 new members have been added to Arizona ASI. Herber and McKey encourage interested men and women who want to make a difference for Christ — especially in the business and professional world — to consider becoming active members. For more information, visit the ASI website at www.asiministries.org or call Herber at 480-451-7174.
