As part of a community outreach program, the Bisbee Church hosted a Sunday afternoon vegan cooking class and supper as a follow-up to two previous eight-day cooking schools. About half of the 20 attendees were non-members.
"This is the best class I've ever attended," said one participant. "It's even better than the two professional classes I've gone to."
Class members learned about making soy milk from soy flour, and they were able to see equipment such as "Soy Toy," a Bosch kitchen machine, and a seed chopper.
Each person made a small loaf of bread and helped prepare all of the food. The menu included bread, millet butter, vegetable pot pie, cashew gravy, cabbage-pineapple slaw, tapioca pudding with two toppings, and cookies (oatmeal and peanut butter).
Bisbee Church members look forward to offering another class soon and as well as a second stop-smoking class.
