On March 17, the Pacific Union Conference Executive Committee voted to change Alicia Gorees title from managing editor of the Recorder to editor.
Gerry Chudleigh, the previous editor, suggested the change, explains Union President Tom Mostert, and we thought it was a good move. Alicia has demonstrated her editing ability and her commitment to the mission of the church. We could not be more pleased with the work she has done with the Recorder in the year and a half she has been on the staff. Chudleigh is the director of the Union Communication Department, and Goree is the associate director.
In her new capacity, Goree will be responsible for selecting and editing the content of the magazine in addition to managing the display advertising. My objective for the Recorder, says Goree, is to make sure it reflects the passion and initiative of the members in our territoryinspiring us for service and reminding us that were each part of a multi-million member global Church family.
The title changes are not so much the beginning of new responsibilities as they are a recognition of the way we have been working for more than a year, says Chudleigh.
At the same executive committee meeting, Chudleighs title was changed from editor to publisher, a title not used in the Recorder before. The publisher, says Chudleigh, is the person who sets the policies for the publication, selects the editor and manages the business of the magazine, including budgets, printing contracts, circulation and advertising sales.
