Still making summer plans? Take your family on a mission adventure with Maranatha Volunteers International. This summer, from June 17-27, volunteers are needed for the 2004 Summer Family Project in Castle Valley, Utah. Volunteers will work at DayStar Adventist Academy doing new construction, renovation, painting and maintenance.
The Family Project was created in 1998 in hopes of bringing a greater variety of age groups to Maranatha. Prior to this, the bulk of Maranatha participants were either high school teenagers or retirees. The program emphasizes cultural, historical and environmental awareness of the local area; social interaction; service; and spiritual growth. Each of these components will be modified to accommodate the various age groups. Most important, the project is designed to encourage family relationships within a service-oriented environment.
Steve Case, president of Piece of the Pie Ministries and author of Christian books, will be the leader for this project. He has coordinated multiple mission projects, including the Family Project, for Maranatha. He is also the project coordinator for the Ultimate Workout, a summer mission trip for teens.
The Family Project is open to volunteers of all ages (minors must be accompanied by an adult) and families of all sizes. To learn more about how you can take your family on a vacation in service, write to Mary Barnett by e-mail at
