Richard Halversen, North Pacific Union evangelist, began his Prophecy Seminar in Chandler on Jan. 16 with his opening night topic, "On the Eve of Armageddon." More than 100 visitors attended that first night, and by the end of the series one month later, 40 had united with the Chandler Church through baptism and profession of faith.
Three of the young men, Reynando Bibit, Mario Bravo, and Taj Pacleb, from SOULS West, Arizonas personal ministries training school, worked with the Chandler Church for 10 weeks during and after the Halversen meetings. One day while visiting inactive and missing members, they stopped to ask for directions from a lady who was outside playing her guitar.
Carmen Lydia Vazquez couldnt help the young men find the correct address, but she gladly accepted their invitation to attend the Prophecy Speaks seminars. When they presented the need for a Spanish interpreter to translate the nightly messages, she immediately agreed to help. Her translation of the messages night by night brought conviction to her heart, and Lydia was baptized at the end of the seriesalong with some of those for whom she had translated the meetings into Spanish.
"These powerful messages have brought conviction and decisions for more than 150 non-members who attended the seminar," said Chandler Pastor Ted W. Parks. "The church members worked hard to prepare for this series, and we are grateful for the way God has blessed. There are many who are continuing to study and are in the process of preparing for baptism in the future."
Parks is giving follow up classes in Daniel and Revelation to the new members and to those who are interested in Gods message for this time in the worlds history. The attendance has been consistent and inspiring.
