The Norwalk Church website,
NorwalkSDA.org, was recently the winner of the Website of the Month award sponsored by the North America Division, Plusline and TAGnet. However, the award, given for the month of December 2003, is not the only thing the site has wonit has begun winning souls.
Lito Moran, a member of another Christian denomination, was surfing the Internet about a year ago when he came across the Norwalk Church website via the TAGnet home page.
Impressed by the Adventist beliefs, he wrote the following guestbook entry: I have read belief statements on several church web pages, but have found nothing that compares to the statement of faith in your church. I am moved by your church, and I am excited to visit your church this coming Sabbath. May God abundantly bless us with His grace and love. A brother in Jesus Christ, Lito Moran.
Webmaster Don Yancy, who prefers to be called a web servant, was very excited when he read Moran's entry, and shared it with web ministry team members Rob Everett and Will Baron. They each prayed that God would motivate Moran to follow through and visit the Norwalk Church, which he soon did.
Moran then had Bible studies with one of the members and joined the church by profession of faith. A few months later, his wife, Emily, was baptized. The Morans and their two young children are now enthusiastic members of Gods remnant fold.
To win souls for Gods end-time Church is the main reason we constructed and published the website, said Yancy.
Knowing that a website is an effective soul-winning tool, we are now in the process of obtaining digital cameras to broadcast the Norwalk worship service over the Internet via streaming video, added Everett.
The Norwalk Web Group is expanding the churchs outreach with the inauguration of a global web evangelism project called AdventWeb, also known as Adventist Web Evangelism. The plan is to construct 15 evangelism-outreach websites targeting various kinds of interest groups.
The first website,
EllenGWhite.info, is scheduled for release later this year. Internet evangelism has a tremendous potential for cost-effective communication of the Adventist message to millions of persons on a world-wide basis, explained Baron, who is coordinating the project.
