Everyone Has a Story
By Rich DuBose
Its been said that everyone has a story, and it's true! We all have stories about our lives—some are tragic and some joyful. We have stories about growing up and finding our place; stories about winning and losing, and hopefully we can tell about lessons learned along the way.
Somehow, God fits into each of our stories, and it’s fascinating, encouraging and redemptive to learn how He does it.
If you are willing to share a portion of your story, you may be instrumental in helping someone discover a new life!
Life Experience
Pacific Union Conference Church Support Services is creating a story-based website to feature people’s stories (i.e. how they found God, or how God found them). Stories may focus on specific events (i.e. an encounter with a physical illness, an accident, a time of rebellion or whatever).*
One goal of the website is to provide encouragement to those who may be struggling with a similar experience. The ultimate purpose is to introduce readers to God for the first time, or to inspire those who already know Him to want to know Him more!
Stories should be 1,200 words or less and should portray a descriptive overview of a specific stage of your journey. Your story may include a dramatic encounter, a spiritual awakening, an emotional healing or a personal discovery.
We also need a portrait style photo of you. It doesn’t have to be a fancy studio shot. You can take it with a digital camera, or whatever. Photo should be at least 2 x 2 inches in size.
Stories should be written in a first-person format and should not contain heavy usage of Adventist lingo.
Send your story and photo to rich@plusline.org or by mail to Rich DuBose, Project Coordinator, Pacific Union Conference, P.O. Box 5005, Westlake Village, CA 91359.
When you submit your story please include the following text at the bottom of the page: “Consent to Publish: By responding to this appeal and submitting my personal story, I hereby give the Pacific Union Conference permission to publish it on their story-based website.”
*Stories may be submitted by Christians living within Canada or the United States.
