First and Second Graders Share Artwork at Arizona State Fair
By Shirley Chipman
Colorful mask collages on display at the Arizona State Fair for thousands of visitors to enjoy showed the emphasis on creativity and art in Cheryl Laspe's first and second grade class at Thunderbird Christian Elementary in Scottsdale.
Using a variety of materials, each student designed a mask. The class then went on a field trip to the fair to see their work on display. Children from both first and second grades received winning ribbons.
Future plans for these students include entering the Phoenix Symphony's Paint to Music contest in May.
