Literature Evangelists Share the Word
By Doris Borg
"Some of our literature evangelism team made many contacts at the Los Angeles Convention Center for the annual Filipino Expo recently,” said Doris Borg, Pacific Press field director for adult literature evangelists in Southern and Southeastern California conferences.
By the end of August, they had delivered books totaling $194,000 in value to English-speaking residents. An additional $204,109 was reported for book deliveries to Spanish-speaking residents. About 35 full- and part-time English and Spanish adult literature evangelists are serving in the area, reporting many Bible studies and several baptisms, according to Borg.
“The Lord calls upon all of us to seek to save perishing souls. There is no higher work than evangelistic canvassing,” she added. The following are two of the many experiences with which God is blessing literature evangelists daily:
Norberto Leiss and his wife, Susana, have had a booth at a swap meet in Oxnard for the past 14 years. The Leisses visit many Christian churches as well, giving short presentations with a table in the lobby displaying Adventist literature. “One day a former Adventist came by our booth, and his heart was touched. He ordered the complete library,” Norberto reported.
