From a garage and office of the 100-member El Monte Vietnamese church, literature is prepared, printed and used to reach out to the Los Angeles Vietnamese community as well as worldwide.
In Denver, for example, there are 30,000 Vietnamese people, but no Adventist church, said Pastor Vinh Khac Nguyen. In 1996, we started printing 200 copies of a free outreach newsletter to nurture Vietnamese Adventists and other Christians living there and elsewhere in the U.S. Eight years later, we are printing 7,000 newsletters.
A Baptist lady visited a friend here and attended an evangelistic meeting where her friend received a book. The Baptist lady borrowed the book, then called to order 100 copies.
Vinh and his wife, Cynthia, acknowledge working long nights translating materials, considering it a labor of loving sacrifice for their soon-coming Lord. They are readying a series of lessons on Daniel and Revelation for publication by early 2005 and will have The Great Controversy ready for purchase sometime in 2005. Pastor Nguyen is also working with a group of young people in Vietnam to construct a web site for the Vietnamese press.
A new, 300-page compilation, God Promises, will be available before Christmas at a cost of $10 plus shipping. Other materials produced by the church press include Sabbath school quarterlies, leaflets on spiritual topics (available in packages of 100) and a 24-lesson Bible study guide ($8/set + $5 s&h).
