Adventurers, Eager Beavers Celebrate Fun Day
By Phil Draper
Nearly 600 Adventurers and Eager Beavers and their families gathered Oct. 24 on the grounds of Thunderbird Adventist Academy to celebrate the annual Adventurer and Eager Beaver Fun Day.
This year’s theme was “Olympics,” tying in with the Athens Olympics. The day started with a skit from Arizona Conference Adventurer Director Annette Stevens and her husband, Jeff.
A parade of nations followed with each of the 22 clubs representing a country. “It was wonderful to see these kids dressed in the traditional dress from all these countries,” said Eric VanDenburgh, newly appointed associate youth director.
Following the parade, Adventurers visited 15 stations where they participated in Olympic-type events. During the lunch hour, attendees chose from the 14 food booths.
“Adventurers is all about families,” said Annette Stevens. "It was such a joy to see the families playing together and building fun memories."
“We almost ran out of patches," added Tony Anobile, conference youth director. "It’s great to see the Adventurer program growing in Arizona. Nothing is more important than our children and youth.”
