Hawaii Representative David A. Pendleton recently received a prestigious commendation from the governor of Hawaii. An Adventist minister and attorney, Pendleton raised more than 1,100 lbs. of non-perishable foods for the Hawaii Food Bank.
In addition to supporting government programs to address hunger, Pendleton also partners with local businesses, civic clubs and churches to raise awareness about hunger and to collect donations to supplement what government can provide. I will make sure government does all it can, says Pendleton, but I will also personally do whatever needs to be done in the private sector to make sure we get enough food to those who are hungry.
Governor Linda Lingle was unable to attend the ceremony, so Department of Human Services Director Lillian Koller read the formal citation and commendation and delivered congratulatory remarks on behalf of Lingle. David has a reputation for acting on his faith to help and serve others in need, added Koller. He is a compassionate and courageous lawmaker.
