Recently the Abundant Life Church in Las Vegas recognized the important role church ushers play in the spiritual life of their church. The church celebrated with a special Sabbath Usher's Day.
Pastor E.E. Cleveland was the guest speaker. Cleveland, 82, moved and spoke with power and vigor reminiscent of his early years as an evangelist.
Cleveland summarized his sermon with a poem: "The sun grew dark with mystery, the morn was cold and chilled, the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill. A drop of blood framed of a sweaty tear fell down upon a blade of grass and mingled its message clear. Christ died for you so that we could enjoy the laughter of the truly free from the blood soaked bark of a cross-shaped tree. You, yet unborn, are living under the provisions of that life insurance policy that he took out on that Friday."
