Carson City Elementary Wins Award
The Carson City church school participated in a Friends in Service Helping (FISH) food drive in October.
Six students—Alex Temple, Stacey Nieri, Danet Campoy, Stephanie Nieri, Jena Bray and Alisha Kingsley—colleted 801 items. That averages about 133 items per student, which is the highest average for participating schools in Carson City.
The students went to neighborhood homes surrounding the school and handed out bags with fliers. Two days later, they returned to collect donations and pass out more bags. The students also shared Bible verses which they had carefully written and laminated.
FISH invited the teachers, principals and home and school leaders who participated to a special awards luncheon Nov. 6. The Carson City school received $100 and an ice cream party, and Arlene Lillegard won a drawing for a trip to Hawaii.
