3ABN Latino Hits the Airwaves
Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN), a 24-hour Christian television and radio network broadcasting worldwide on five satellites, has launched 3ABN Latino with Spanish and Portuguese programming on both AMC-4 and PAS-9 satellites.
This new channel adds another 619 million potential viewers who speak these two languages around the world. In addition, a new Portuguese translation center has been set up near São Paulo, Brazil, to translate much of 3ABN’s programming, including their flagship program, “3ABN Presents.”
Major cable operators in North and South America are making firm commitments to carry the new 3ABN Latino as well, and plans are underway for a new TV production studio designated for full-time Spanish and Portuguese programming at their headquarters.
Three Angels Broadcasting Network, the second largest owner of low-power television stations in the United States, was founded by Danny and Linda Shelton in 1984 and began broadcasting in November of 1986. Today health and lifestyle programs dealing with topics including divorce recovery, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, vegetarian cooking, stop smoking, weight loss and natural remedies appeal to a wide variety of viewers and listeners. In addition, the network airs programs that deal with children and family problems, gospel music programs, and inspirational interviews—and a growing number of programs have been developed for children of all ages.
3ABN headquarters are located in southern Illinois, and the network has grown steadily to include a 20,000 sq. ft. production center with two large studios, control rooms and office space, as well as an uplink center with another TV studio; a 24-hour radio network; call center; and sound center recording studios.
In addition 3ABN has a 100,000 sq. ft. production facility in Niznhy Novgorod, Russia, where television and radio programs are made and aired on 185 stations, as well as on a Russian satellite network. 3ABN currently employs 125 people in the United States and another 50 in Russia, Philippines, Brazil and Europe.
