Chong Receives Kidney from Scott
When Dayton Chong was told he needed a kidney transplant, he did what came naturally. He called for prayer from colleagues, church members, friends and family.
As Asian Pacific Coordinator for the Central California Conference and pastor of the Fresno Asian Church, Chong’s schedule was busy. Though dialysis three times a week kept him going, the three-hour treatment was both time consuming and tiring.
Among his prayer partners was church member Donna Scott. During a special season of prayer, she felt impressed to be part of the solution. Her blood type (A positive) matched Chong’s, and her health was good. After getting the whole-hearted support of her family, she called her pastor to offer him one of her kidneys.
Extensive testing proved she was a perfect match, and doctors performed the transplant on July 23 at the San Francisco Medical Center. “I am filled with joy for this opportunity to give to my pastor,” says Scott. “I am so blessed that God chose me.” Both are recovering well and Chong looks forward to once again serving his Lord.
